We had our first work related christmas party on the Friday just gone and headed to Debacle after for a few drinks. Little did we know it would be alive with so many VIP’s.
First there was Brendan, AKA the ‘Magnet Mart Bloke’ who took time out of filming his latest commercial to say G’Day to Lliam and I.
Secondly, Tasmanian Senator Bob Brown was more than happy to pose with Hamish, Lliam and I.
This comnig friday is work related function #2. Will we be able to back it up with some more “celebrity” sightings.

In my absence from work it appears our Divisional Mascot - which just happened to be a gift to me - has been “borrowed” and taken to another department. Needless to say I am not impressed and many others here in the division also miss the little guy.
Borealis pictured below has opened himself a yahoo email account and writes to tell us that he is happy with his new arrangements. However, the consensus here is that poor Borealis is suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. It would be nice to think that Borealis is speaking forhimself but it’s clear he is having words put into his mouth from vested interests.

So it turns out a good friend of mine Megan, who i assumed was still living in Melbourne is now living in Darwin and has been for 6 months. You leave the country for a while and you get totally left out of the loop. Well that may explain why she is not replying to my emails.
Megan if you read this send me an email.

My cousin Scott and his girlfriend Jade are spending 10 weeks travelling through Europe. Unfortunately they were too tight to include the Pacific NorthWest and me in their plans, but i am sure they will still have fun.
They are keeping a travel blog and you can find them here if your heart desires… Jade and Scott on the road.

7 days till departure…
This morning i have been going through my room working out what needs throwing out and what needs packing into boxes. On Wednesday I am moving a lot of stuff into a self storage place. I guess first of all will be the Futon and the bike case, then the boxes of assorted stuff. And there is so much of it. I have never known anyone to have so crap. What was i thinking accumulating all this junk. Although, some funny photos of times gone by have surfaced which make the task quite interesting. Although the bins are quite full. Hope it’s garbage night soon.
Finished up work on Friday. It didn’t really sink in until today when i slept past 7am in the knowledge that i didn’t have to go to work. The football at Manuka on Sunday was disappointing. The First half was great, but the boys really went to sleep in the third to let North Melbourne come back from 40 points down to win by 4. Disappointing way for the last AFL game i’ll see in a while to pan out, but i guess that’s the way it goes.
Got an email from Karl today saying the Heiden family had arrived in Vancouver, so my accomodation should be all systems go.
But for now it’s back to the mess of the room for a while before i head into town to have a farewell coffee with Coach.

I’m feeling just a bit shabby today. We went out last night to see Eskimo Joe at the ANU bar. They played hard and there were a few of us playing just as hard with our instruments. Of course ours were the kind of instruments one uses to drink out of. Only one person failed to read my email correctly and tried to call me from All Bar Nun to find out why we weren’t there. Unfortunately for the person in question they were one week to early. Hopefully Steve will return to All Bar Nun next week for a few Coopers, when we are actually there. Although he could be forgiven for his mistake as he was probably distracted by the knowledge that he’d be featuring in the Canberra Times the following day.
