Hi Everyone.

Well i am now a published writer. After the Debarcle of the lack of drinks for over 10k’s during the Half Marathon on Sunday, i fired off a letter to the editor. So in today’s province there was my letter complaining about the race and how poor it was. I am hoping to get a copy of the letter on here in the next day or two…

I am finally one of those people, who’s letters i usually read and think that guy is such an idiot!!!

Check out the crappy email apology that the Marathon Organisers thought would make everything better.

“Apology to BMO Bank of Montreal Vancouver Half Marathoners”.

Thank you all for participating in the 2006 BMO Vancouver Half Marathon on Sunday May 7.

Due to unforeseen circumstances we were unable to supply water to two of our water stations on the half marathon route. We have already discussed the matter with Canadian Springs and we can assure you that the two of us will take the necessary steps to ensure this type of incident doesn’t happen again.

We deeply apologize for this and we promise to have a more immediate back-up plan in place in future years. We assure you that this type of incident will not be repeated.

The Vancouver Marathon is a non-profit society that takes great pride in our event and in our city. We have over 2,200 volunteers that contribute countless of hours towards putting our annual running events. Our goal is to improve our event every year and provide a better level of service to our runners. We welcome feedback from our valued participants look forward to your future support”.

Sincerely,

The Vancouver International Marathon Society Board of Directors

What makes it really interesting is that from my understanding of what i have heard around town, the term “not-profit society” should be interpreted pretty loosely when describing the Vancouver International Marathon Society.
