Game on…
Sure I’d travelled. I’d owned a passport; I was the first in my family to travel overseas! It was a huge trip too; all the way to NZ - they didn’t even stamp my passport. It wasn’t until 2002 that I was bitten by the travel bug. At this time my sister Danielle had been living overseas for a while and was now in South Africa. I thought I better get out there to take advantage of some free accommodation. 8 weeks in Southern Africa was enough to be infected with the Travel Virus.
Luckily for the last two years I have been able to travel to Hawaii for Triathlon, which satiated the need for a while but hadn’t quenched the thirst.
In 2004 I came home from Hawaii, determined to follow in the footsteps of brave adventurers before me and spend an extended period infiltrating a foreign land from within. Resisting the urge to travel to the UK like many millions of young Australian’s before me, I decided on the hot new destination for Australians travelling on Working Holiday Visa’s – our Commonwealth siblings Canada.
So to keep you all abreast of what is happening in my life overseas, my mate Steve Hanley – all round IT guru and mountain biking aficionado – has set up these pages for me to allow me all diarise my trip.
While I am away you’ll read in excruciating detail the trials and tribulations of my adventures in North America, other useless and mindless facts of information, and as they say a picture tells a thousand words, you’ll be able to read those essays in my picture gallery. I’d promise not to bore you but that’s a promise that I can’t keep. Hopefully there will be sufficient excitement to keep people returning on a semi casual basis. As an added bonus you’ll be able to leave comments for me and everyone else to see.
Well thanks for dropping by. It’s only 13 sleeps till I depart, and as Friday is my last day at work for 15 months, the adventure begins at 5pm Friday.
